This artwork is part of an exhibition 'The Wetlands' at The Boondall Wetlands Environment centre.

The Wetlands by Holly Neilson of Paper Hands, is a collection inspired by the quiet beauty of Boondall Wetlands, these works capture moments gathered over years of returning to the wetlands -- a place woven deeply into my childhood and everyday life. 

Growing up nearby, the wetlands became a place fo childhood play and calm. I rode my bike through its winding paths with my dad, explored its tracks in moments of curiousity and returned to its calm surroundings whenever life felt overwhelming. Overtime it became more than a landscape; it became a place of reflection, comfort and grounding.

This collection is an expression of that nostalgia -- the feeling of revisiting familiar places that quietly shape who we are. Through light, texture and atmosphere, 'The Wetlands' invites viewers to pause and reconnect with the natural spaces around them.
